If we only had 30 secs to get to know you. What would you want us to know?
I run The Engaging Educator, a company that improves presentation, communication, and social skills through improv based continuing education. My absolute favorite thing to do is to help people become better versions of themselves – and improv truly does that! It’s all about finding and getting comfortable with being unapologetically authentic. When I started my business, I felt I had no business running a company – who was I to run a business, an ex-actor turned educator and coach? Fast forward 5 years and we’ve reached over 25,000 students – all non-actors, ranging from Viacom Executives, Etsy Brand Managers, Time Warner Senior VPs to 4-year-olds to kids and adults on the autism spectrum – and led workshops in over 30 states.
Aside from my company, which is very much an extension of who I am – I even have Yes, And, an important improv principle, tattooed on my arm! – as an ex-NYCer I love cooking, baking and hanging out with my crazy dog, Drumstick, and my less crazy husband, Alex.
Education: Marquette University, Milwaukee, WI + City College of NY, NYC
Awards/Recognitions: 3x TEDx Speaker
We just got a new puppy two months ago, so my world is pretty consumed by a tiny fluffy white dog named Drumstick. When I'm not being jumped on, my husband and I are cooking away in the kitchen, making everything from authentic larb (Thai meat salad) to fresh pasta to semi-freddo to Detroit-style pizza. There's just something so relaxing about cutting things up!
I have a book coming out shortly (eee!), plenty of fun, new blog posts coming up and lots of classes and workshops! We're also rolling out new female-specific programming in early 2018, so keep a lookout on our site and social media!
